Seascape Photography . Cannon Beach Connection

05/10/2012 by Liam Frankland

Cannon Beach, Oregon is a location that is far too easy for great seascape photography, then again my opinion of Oregon is all of it is just too easy. This long exposure seascape photo was taken in May 2012 during a wonderful sunset. It is easy to be sidetracked by Cannon Beach’s Haystack Rock, the huge 235-foot monolith that stands out like a sore thumb. But i preferred to focus on what are known as ‘The Needles’ for a more simple and minimalist composition. Be [...]

Minimal Seascape Photography – Enlightenment

07/09/2012 by Liam Frankland

For quite sometime i have been working towards more minimalistic seascape photography by using long exposures and concentrating on the subtle colours at dusk on the Suffolk coast

Cape Kiwanda located in Pacific City, Oregon is an absolute gem for seascape photography, sandy cliffs, a large seastack named Haystack rock, huge waves and great views of the coastline

Sunset Seascape Photography . Felixstowe Dusk

06/01/2012 by Liam Frankland

Here is a recent collection of sunset seascape photography shot in Felixstowe during October 2011. As Felixstowe is situated on the east coast the facing sky is mostly always perfect at sunset and dusk for subtle pinks and purples. This small collection of sunset seascape photography are a mix of techniques i practice a lot with seascape photography. All are long exposures,  some focus more on intimate details captured with shallow selective focus and shooting vertorama’s for sunset seascape photography is [...]

Soft Focus Seascape

13/10/2011 by Liam Frankland

I have recently been experimenting with shooting slightly off focus long exposures for a more abstract seascape effect. It is another route to further a more nostalgic feel and possibly abstract look to my seascape photography. I have no idea how i was able to capture the waves in lines but this shot so far is by far my favourite i have shot whilst experimenting with abstract seascape photography. This abstract seascape shot was taken with a Sigma 20mm F/1.8 [...]

Felixstowe Pier Sunrise

05/09/2011 by Liam Frankland

Felixstowe Pier is a subject matter that appears in my seascape photography quite often. It’s now a derelict pier but still holds a lot of character and personal memories for me. Tweet

Abstract Landscape Photography . Rebirth

10/07/2011 by Liam Frankland

A small glimpse at a style i’ve been working on lately for more of an abstract landscape photography effect. I have an urge to try and be more abstract and explore more of a dream-like feeling. Trying to keep digital post production to a minimum with only black and white conversion and a square crop. Sadly i no longer have access to a black and white darkroom, but if i did i’d explore Fuji Neopan 1600 all over again. This film [...]
