Two recent photos that explore shooting with a high ISO to achieve more grain in my photography. These two abstract landscape shots were taken in and around Rendlesham Forest and use intentional camera movement with an ISO setting of 12800 shot on a Canon 7D. I find the grain when processed a little more along with the intentional camera movement really adds mystery and a far more abstract feel to the photos.

Hopefully more soon.

Here is a recent collection of seascape photography shot in Felixstowe during October 2011. As Felixstowe is situated on the east coast the facing sky is mostly always perfect at sunset and dusk for subtle pinks and purples. The photos are a mix of techniques i practice a lot with seascape photography, all are long exposures, some focus more on intimate details captured with shallow selective focus and vertorama seascapes are also becoming a favourite technique mine of to capture the scene.

I am drawn to the fields of Suffolk for my landscape photography as the local landscape provides a subtle and sometimes minimal offering. Sadly i am not always in the right place at the right time and this image is a composite vertorama. The image consists of two separate photographs taken nearby in location but around a year a part. This creation was also an experiment in mixing focal lengths when creating a vertorama, the foreground was shot with a Sigma 10-20mm and the sky was shot with a Canon MKI 50mm f/1.8.

A small glimpse at a style i’ve been working on lately for my landscape photography. I have an urge to try and be more abstract and explore more of a dream-like feeling. Trying to keep digital post production to a minimum with only black and white conversion and a square crop. Sadly i no longer have access to a black and white darkroom, but if i did i’d explore Fuji Neopan 1600 all over again.

Recently i’ve been trying some impossible project polaroid film, i’ve tried the Px 600 Silver Shade film which for me has produced some really nice results and the added black frame really sets of the soft tones of the Silver Shade film. The other film was PX 70 Push which i had loaded in an SX 70 camera. This film was a little more tricky to get right, however after some discussions with other users online i think my camera is mainly at fault. From the pack of PX 70 i was able to get a shot full of imperfections but its these imperfections that make the image.
