The Poppy is a great subject to photograph for landscape photography at this time of year in Suffolk. I find myself drawn to singular Poppies most of the time, I love the way they become a perfect metaphor for solitude. However i do find myself drawn to many subjects that are alone in the landscape. The poppy is a flower that certainly compliments the Suffolk countryside, subtle yet elegant. It’s also an extremely symbolical flower when we apply it Remembrance Day.
I have photographed them every year but this year I noticed a Poppy with a petal that had fallen and became trapped on the nearby wheat. This for me was extremely symbolic and spoke so much to me, i’ve named the photo above ‘Fallen’.
Here is a small collection of photos from previous years.
