Winter Landscape Photography . Observed from Drifts

02/04/2013 by Liam Frankland

I’m possibly speaking too soon but i think Spring is finally here in the UK and the snow is on it’s way out of here. However, i thoroughly love the snow for Winter Landscape Photography and usually come away from Winter with at least one lonely tree shot. This was shot on a golf course in Suffolk where a sand bunker and the subtle gradient of land had filled with an immense snow drift. I was able to use that drift to force [...]

Abstract Grain Photography . Charcoal Abstraction

04/03/2013 by Liam Frankland

Furthering more of my experiments in abstract grain photography i have slowly been producing a series of dark almost muddy black and white abstract grain photography. The series takes inspiration from the look and feel of charcoal drawings and relies heavily on minimal bands of white light as a strong focal point. Tweet

Grain Photography . London Abstracts

16/11/2012 by Liam Frankland

I decided to experiment more lately with grain photography and Intentional Camera Movement photography. This and the below shot were taken on a Fuji X100 with a high ISO and ICM. Here i experiment with a more abstract street photography approach and for me it’s returning to a style i shot when i first started my journey with photography. The Fuji X100 for me doesn’t have the same noise/grain likeability as my Canon 7D, but there is no denying the [...]

Seascape Photography . Cannon Beach Connection

05/10/2012 by Liam Frankland

Cannon Beach, Oregon is a location that is far too easy for great seascape photography, then again my opinion of Oregon is all of it is just too easy. This long exposure seascape photo was taken in May 2012 during a wonderful sunset. It is easy to be sidetracked by Cannon Beach’s Haystack Rock, the huge 235-foot monolith that stands out like a sore thumb. But i preferred to focus on what are known as ‘The Needles’ for a more simple and minimalist composition. Be [...]

Art on the Prom 2012

03/09/2012 by Liam Frankland

Art on the Prom which takes place along the seafront in Felixstowe was another success for myself and i’m sure for many other artists. I displayed some new landscape photography as well as some older work which was all well received. The weather held out, people were out in force and there was generally a superb atmosphere. I’d like to thank all the people that managed to take time to view my landscape photography, purchase prints and speak to me personally [...]
